Bromley’s Andy Woodman explains why he’s feeling positive despite dropped points against struggling Woking

BROMLEY suffered a setback as they drew 1-1 against Woking at Hayes Lane on Monday – but boss Andy Woodman was in upbeat form despite the dropped points.

Bromley hold a four-point advantage in the second National League play-off semi-final spot with four games to go.

Kido Taylor-Hart’s goal two minutes into added-time earned a point for the home side.

Ricky Korboa had given relegation-threatened Woking the lead a minute before half-time.

Woodman felt his side were denied a spot-kick but he was pleased with how his side got something from a game he thought was slipping away.

“They pinned us back, we couldn’t get hold of the ball, it was exactly like I expected – horrible, scrappy first half,” Woodman said on Bromley TV. “We didn’t win enough second balls and then we conceded right before half-time which changes the whole dynamic of the game. You get to half-time 0-0, like we’ve done many times here, and it’s a different second half.

“Then we’re chasing second half, we had a penalty decision that wasn’t given. I’m not criticising the ref or linesman because they’re entitled to get things wrong, but it would have been nice!

“We kept huffing and puffing and just couldn’t get the breakthrough. I was kind of just resigning myself to it being one of those horrible days where it hasn’t happened.

“Then when you get a last-minute equaliser it feels like a winner. That’s the positives I’m taking out of it, it was a point I didn’t think we were going to get.

“We got it, fair play to the boys. Keep pushing.”

Woodman added: “We’re disappointed with some bits and bobs but four points over the weekend – that’s not a bad return.”

The Ravens trail second-place Barnet by four points. They are four points ahead of Altrincham and Solihull Moors, both of whom have played a game more.

Gateshead are a point further back but would close to within two points of Bromley if they win their game in hand.

Bromley host Solihull in the semi-final of the FA Trophy this Saturday at 3pm before a huge league game at barnet the following Tuesday.
