MILLWALL left-back Nino Adom-Malaki will undergo surgery after suffering a serious knee injury in a friendly against Real Murcia.

Adom-Malaki, 20, landed awkwardly on his right knee ten minutes into the second half of the game at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia last Friday, which Millwall won 2-1.

Millwall haven’t said how long the academy prospect will be sidelined for.

Adom-Malaki was one of a number of homegrown players involved with Neil Harris’ squad in pre-season and is highly rated by the club.

He played eighteen times and scored once on loan at former Lions captain Steve Morison’s League Two Sutton United last season.

Lions head of medical Gary Hemens said on the club’s website: “Nino will undergo surgery on Thursday, August 8. Following that, he will commence a period of rehabilitation to recover from the surgery which we will monitor for a number of months.

“Once we’re happy with his progress, Nino will enter the mid-stage of his recovery as we look to build up the muscles again and prepare him to resume some light running.

“The final stage is transitioning Nino back into football and reintroducing football movements.”

The club added: “Everybody at Millwall sends their best wishes to Nino and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch.”
