CRYSTAL Palace manager Oliver Glasner has revealed the club are in talks with England over withdrawing Adam Wharton from the under-21 squad.

Midfielder Wharton, 20, withdrew from the September squad as the Eagles manage his groin issue.

Ben Futcher’s under-21s play Euro 2025 qualifiers against Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Wharton had a shorter summer break after being in the Euro 2024 squad that reached the final in Germany.

“We are in talks with the U21s and he will go there for a medical assessment but we expect that he goes back again because he struggles and is still struggling. It is managing him as good as possible.” Glasner said in his pre-mach press conference ahead of the visit of Liverpool to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

“We know it’s not the best situation but there is not a moment where we can give him three, four or five weeks’ break.

“It is really just managing and therefore it could help us if the England under-21 supports him as well.”
