CHARLTON Athletic are in talks with Miles Leaburn over a new contract – after triggering a one-year extension in his current deal.

Leaburn, 20, is currently contracted to the club until the summer of 2026.

Leaburn has scored 22 goals in 63 games after joining the academy from Chelsea in 2019. He scored twice against his former side in their 3-0 EFL Trophy win on Tuesday.

“We had the option to trigger Miles’ one-year extension, he would have been out of contract this summer. In addition we’ve offered him a new contract,” technical director Andy Scott said on the club’s website.

“Miles is a very talented player and has done really well since arriving into the men’s first team in the summer of 2022. He has fantastic technical ability and really good physical attributes, with his pace, height and power. Mentally he has shown his resilience to come back stronger from a very tough injury last season.

“He will continue to learn and develop under the guidance of Nathan Jones and our staff.

“We were all really pleased to see him get back on the scoresheet on Tuesday.”

Academy products Zach Mitchell, Tyreece Campbell, Nathan Asiimwe, Daniel Kanu and Karoy Anderson have all signed long-term contracts since the start of last season.
