Connecting through creativity

Words of Wisdom is a collaborative exhibition in Peckham, led by artist Michelle Dwyer, that transforms advice and life lessons from older generations into bold, hand-printed letterpress posters. Running October 10th–19th, 2025, the show shares words of honesty, encouragement, and humour from local voices across Southwark.

The project has been created in partnership with community centres including Copleston Centre, The Green Nunhead, Time & Talents, The Shed, and Pecan.

Each piece acts as a conversation starter, exploring resilience, care, joy, and the lessons we wish weʼd known sooner. Words of Wisdom celebrates lived experience, shares it across generations, and reminds us that sometimes the simplest advice is the most powerful.

FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

Alongside the exhibition, the Meet & Make program offers creative sessions in collage (@CollageClubLDN), embroidery (@Stitch_School), coloring (@ElliotKruszynski) plus many more. Free and open to everyone, these relaxed drop-ins are designed to spark creativity, foster connection, and simply give people a reason to get out of the house.

Sessions will take place over the weekends between 11:00am — 5:00pm.

CREATING CONNECTION

Social isolation is a growing challenge in the UK. Words of Wisdom addresses this by creating opportunities for meaningful connection through art, showing how creativity can promote wellbeing and social cohesion.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Michelle Dwyer is a Peckham-based letterpress artist and founder of Nice & Graphic studio. Known for bold gradient colours and strong typography, she has exhibited in London and Madrid. She leads community-focused projects, running workshops and open days that make letterpress accessible to a wider audience. Dedicated to preserving traditional printing techniques, Michelle uses the craft to connect people and amplify unheard voices. She is also a mentee of renowned typographic artist Alan Kitching.
