The Southwark Park Galleries’ Annual Open is London’s longest-running democratic exhibition where any artist can submit work without a selection criteria, making it an inclusive platform for artists working in the UK.
This year over 460 artists and 700 works in drawing, painting, photography, print, sculpture and film are exhibited, championing the diversity of practice today.
From its inception in 1984, the ethos of the Annual Open has always been about accessible participation and creating opportunity, so instead of a judging panel for entering the exhibition, alumni from our programme select a winner to receive a £500 prize towards a solo presentation in our Salter Space. This year’s judge is independent curator A—Z (Anne Duffau).
All works are for sale with the proceeds split between the artists and the gallery. As a charity, all funding raised contributes to our programme.
As is tradition, the winner announcement is celebrated with mulled wine and carols by The Rotherhithe & Bermondsey Choral Society on Saturday 6 December 1 – 4pm.
Our exhibition launches are free and open to everyone, with no booking required.
