A night of mischief, chaos and wonder

In this vibrant new production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Globe Theatre becomes a space for communal celebration under starry, summer skies for its opening show of the 2026 summer season.

Enter a world where the veil between the everyday and the extraordinary grows joyfully thin.

As night deepens on the eve of a royal wedding, a company of amateur performers prepares a play for the big day and invite you to step into their story.

Follow a group of giddy lovers chasing desire and connection through a moonlit forest as they collide with playful spirits in a fairy realm where anything is possible. Hearts open, spells go awry, and surprising transformations unfold in a shared night of mischief that fills the Globe with chaos and wonder.

By dawn, everyone has been changed. Come and be part of the magic.

The cast will comprise Audrey Brisson as Hippolyta/Titania, Sophie Cox as Hermia, Jamal Franklin as Snug, Michael Grady-Hall as Puck, Gareth Kennerley as Egeus/Flute, Mel Lowe as Lysander, Victoria Moseley as Quince, Enyi Okoronkwo as Oberon/Theseus, Em Prendergast as Snout, Adrian Richards as Bottom, Gavi Singh Chera as Demetrius, and Romaya Weaver as Helena.

Directed by Emily Lim (Brighter Still, Bradford City of Culture; The Odyssey, National Theatre/Public Acts).

The Globe from 23rd April – 29th August.

Admission: £5 – £85.
