Every joke is a tiny revolution

This new dance-theatre work by Bea Bidault and Max Revell that explores truth, deception and belief in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, political instability and emotional polarisation. The work, part of Lambeth Fringe Festival, asks how people come to trust certain ideologies and what is lost when certainty replaces doubt.

The Lambeth Fringe is dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility, and the the five-week festival amplifies underrepresented voices, providing a platform for women, LGBTQ+, global majority, and working-class artists. It also empowers creatives to share their work with a wider audience by reducing financial barriers and expanding performance opportunities across multiple venues.

Bidault and Revell met while performing with Akram Khan Dance Company, and their creative partnership blends exceptional contemporary dance with the humour and grit of impactful physical theatre.

One Without is set in the backdrop of increasingly polarised societies and ubiquitous artificial intelligence. Through contemporary dance and physical theatre, clown and mime, the duo dissects the meanings of truth, deception and belief: what is true? What do we choose to believe in? Why? It challenges the status-quo and through dance theatre, audiences are invited to consider the powers of emotional versus artificial intelligence in decision-making, and carry that independence outside the theatre’s walls. I have attached the release for further info.

Coming to London’s Lambeth Fringe Festival, for a performance at The Bread and Roses Theatre, on Sunday 25 October at 09:00 pm.
