Man found dead in south London car park

A man in his 40s was found dead in a car park in Crystal Palace yesterday (Thursday, June 1).

A member of the public found the unresponsive man in the car park of Effra Court, Homelands Drive, yesterday morning and the police were called at 9.24am.

There have been no arrests and the police are urging local residents to check their dashcam and doorbell footage for suspicious activity. 

Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas, who is leading the investigation, said: “A dedicated team of detectives are working to establish exactly what happened and identify who is responsible.

“Officers are at the scene, which remains open, and I would ask anyone with information about the incident to contact us immediately, no matter how minor the detail.”

Officers believe they know who the victim is and are trying to trace and notify his next of kin.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course. 

DCI Minhas added: “Tackling violence remains a priority, and I urge the communities we serve to work alongside us to stop violence.“
