Willian can’t wait to continue working under Marco Silva after penning a one-year contract extension at Craven Cottage.
The experienced 34-year-old was a key figure in Fulham’s return to the top flight, making 27 appearances and scoring five times as the Whites reached the top ten.
Nottingham Forest were reportedly keen to swoop for the former Chelsea and Arsenal star but the winger preferred to stick with Fulham and Silva, a manager who has already made a big impression on the Brazilian.
Willian told FFCtv: “Marco is a guy that I have all the respect for him.
“He is an amazing person and for me a top manager, one of the best in the league.
“It is a pleasure for me to work with him.”
Despite those Forest rumours, the winger couldn’t hide his delight at extending his stay by the banks of the Thames.
He said: “I’m completely happy to sign for one more year with Fulham. I’m happy to continue the work I did last season with all the team-mates and all the club.
“I think it is a club that can do even better this season so I’m happy to continue that amazing adventure.
“It always was my preference to come back to Fulham to renew my contract and I finally did it so I’m happy.”
Willian has become a firm favourite with the Fulham faithful with his eye catching displays a key factor in last year’s success.
And the attacker has promised more of the same ahead of the new season.
He said: “I have to say thank you for all the support. The Fulham fans have been amazing with me from the first day.
“I just want to continue doing the best thing that I can do inside the pitch for them – scoring goals, making some assists, playing better and better in every game. That is what I want to do for them.
“It was an amazing season the last one and I just want to carry on the same way. I enjoy myself every single day here on the training ground and also during the games.”
Willian added: ““We have the opportunity to continue the work that we did last season. It was amazing.
“We cannot drop down again, we always have to think about improving, tom play better and to do a better season than the last one.”
