All about Forest Green for Dons attacker, not Chelsea

AFC WIMBLEDON youngster Aron Sasu says the number one priority is this weekend’s clash with Forest Green rather than Wednesday’s big cup tie at Chelsea.

The teenager penned professional forms at Plough Lane this summer and has featured in every matchday squad to date this season.

Sasu played more than an hour of the 2-1 win over Coventry a fortnight ago which set up that dream Chelsea encounter and there was also a late cameo from the bench three days later against moneybags Wrexham.

Johnnie Jackson’s side are currently unbeaten and although all the talk is about the Stamford Bridge trip, for Sasu the only thing that matters is Saturday’s League Two match with slightly less glamorous opponents.

He told afcwimbledon.co.uk: “Everyone obviously has that (Chelsea) at the back of their mind.

“It’s a big game, but we’re not focusing on it too much at the moment

“We’ve got Forest Green on the weekend. We’re not just ignoring it like it’s not there, everyone knows it’s there.

“But we’re being level-headed about it.

“We’ll go there and put on the best performance we can and just take the tie as what it is.”

Having come through the club’s ranks as a youngster, Sasu has quickly made the step up to the first team squad.

The 18-year-old is learning plenty just from being involved on the bench during matchdays and has an open mind about what lies ahead this season when asked would he consider going out on loan.

He explained: “The ideal situation is for me to work for a place in the Wimbledon team.

“That’s what I want to do, but there are other factors that come into it such as game time, other people coming in when injuries happen and how the season develops.

“Situations can change rapidly, so I take it day-by-day.

“Right now I think I’m doing well and I’m in a good spot, but as time progresses we’ll see what happens.”

Sasu added: “I’m nowhere near the complete player at present.

“I’m progressing from a striker to more of a winger, so I’m developing loads of different areas of my game at the same time.

“I’ve been playing much more wider, on the left, so there’s areas on that side that I need to work on.

“Also, not losing the threat of being a striker and being able to play across the front three would be a real asset.”
