‘It would be nice to bring another player in’ – Millwall boss on plans for the final week of the transfer window

GARY Rowett said it would be “nice” for Millwall to make another signing but could not guarantee any further moves before the transfer window closes.

Millwall have made five permanent signings so far and landed Brooke Norton-Cuffy on loan from Arsenal last week.

Lions boss Rowett said any sudden outgoings could force the club to make moves but suggested it could otherwise be a quiet week at The Den with deadline day this Friday, September 1.

Asked if he was expecting much business, he told NewsAtDen: “Not loads, I wouldn’t think. We’ve done quite a lot of business up until this point. You ask any manager in any other team in the Championship, they’d all say the same: ‘I’d like to do more business.’

“But you have to fit that around that around the parameters of the club and fit that around the parameters of what we’ve already done and also players going out.

“I think the squad’s fairly light in numbers so of course if anyone was to go out, then we certainly need to make sure we replace those players. It would be nice to bring another player in – we’ll work hard to see where we get to – but, what we don’t want to do, is get into the last day and have that sort of last ditch feeling of ‘we’ve got to do something.’

“I think it either gets done middle of the week or not at all, I think it’s the way we normally operate at this club.”
