Cracked and Degenerate

Making her writer-performer debut, Bridgerton star Amy Beth Hayes brings her gripping and darkly comic one-woman show to VAULT Festival 2023.

Cracked follows our protagonist making a fresh start after a terrible break-up, landing a new job and making new friends. But behind her squeaky-clean exterior, lies darkness, trauma and untold secrets.

With a deeply complex female character at its heart, who’s at once charming, unsettling and darkly hilarious, Cracked showcases a fresh and thrilling new female voice – a woman who doesn’t just know all there is to know about tiles, but a heroine for modern times.

Written and performed by Amy Beth Hayes / Directed by Tom Bellerby

Amy Beth Hayes can also be seen in Lenny Henry’s upcoming drama Three Little Birds.

CRACKED: VAULT Festival 2023: Tuesday 7 – Friday 10 February 2023.

Degenerate, from this is not a test theatre, co-created and performed by Maria Theresa Creasey (The Alienist, The Amazing World of Gumball, Upcoming Marvel Project).

Maria Teresa Creasey isn’t dead yet; she’s just forty. Sick and tired of people pretending she’s not there, Creasey is raising hell.

In this experimental coming of age comedy, combining physical comedy, storytelling, stand-up and a killer soundtrack, Creasey exposes the invisibility of middle age and the parallels between your 40s and being a vampire.

Degenerate is a rallying cry to anyone who’s felt othered, empowering them to own their narrative, laugh, dance and, most importantly, bite back.
