Dance the day away at a free festival on the peninsula this summer: indie pop band Girl Ray is the headline act in the line-up for the Turning Tides Festival on 10 August at Greenwich Peninsula

Fresh from releasing their latest album Prestige, the trio promise an electrifying performance alongside a line-up of UK and international artists.

From Big Fish Little Fish – a chance to share the excitement of a rave with grandparents, parents and children alike – to the electronic afro-funk stylings of Ibibio Sound Machine and multi-instrumentalists Flamingods, there’s something for everyone at Turning Tides Festival.

The festival is free to attend, but tickets are limited – so the organisers suggest booking early online at greenwichpeninsula.co.uk to secure your tickets.

The London-based Girl Ray will perform Prestige, an album spring-loaded with disco, funk and electro-pop sounds transporting fans to a fantasy discotheque right by the river.

The genre-defying Ibibio Sound Machine will also play new music from their 2024 release Pull the Rope, a vibrant fusion of Afrobeat, dance grooves, funky basslines, jazz brass and unmistakeable vocals – captivating fans with a sonic journey that bridges cultures and eras on the dancefloor.

Completing the line-up is Bristol’s new indie-rock outfit Supalung, with critically renowned singer-songwriter Sam Brookes and multi-instrumental producer Pete Josef, and psychedelic electro-punk four-piece from London and Bahrain, Flamingods.

Self-releasing multi-genre south east London local J.Flowers.mp3 and neo-soul singer-songwriter from Brighton BabyEleanor join forces to perform their latest track Language

And boppers of all ages can get down to Big Fish Little Fish, the seasoned crew providing family-friendly techno, hip-hop and drum and bass beats heavy enough for big ravers and safe enough for little ears. Plus, very special guest DJ Perry from Pendulum will join the Big Fish Little Fish stage with his exciting club classics.

Girl Ray, the headliner at Turning Tides Festival, said: “We’re so excited to headline Turning Tides Festival on 10 August! It’s always so fun to play in the city we grew up in, especially in a festival setting.

“We’ll be performing songs from our album Prestige that came out last summer, as well as some trusty old hits from the back catalogue. We’re really excited to be a part of the eclectic lineup and are particularly looking forward to Ibibio Sound Machine and Flamingods, bands we love and who have a fantastic live set”.

Over the last six years, Turning Tides has been bringing eclectic sounds from all over the world. It takes over the unique creative quarter of London’s Design District on Greenwich Peninsula, just two minutes from North Greenwich tube station, and also accessible via Uber Boat by Thames Clippers and the IFS Cloud Cable Car.

The festival is part of Peninsula Summer, the season-long celebration of music, film and flavour on London’s only Peninsula neighbourhood.
