3am. Central London. The streets are empty.
Simon, a primary school teacher, has handcuffed himself to a tree for a climate protest. Hours have passed. His friends have abandoned him.
Benoit, an oil drilling engineer, roams the streets looking for kicks. Drunk, desperate and alone, he has nothing left to lose.
What can ensue but a clash of personality, ideology, and culture?
Prepare for a compulsive, high-octane romp through England, France, dating apps, primate psychology and the end of the world. In one hour, in one night, everything falls apart.
From the writer: ‘I started Complicité as a short piece written for a scratch night for a French actor I know. It was supposed to be about binaries of culture, lifestyle and communication. This shorter piece laid the ground for longer conversations along these same lines. Complicité is not really a political piece, it’s a play about humanity: what we share, and what we don’t.’
