This August, join ]performance s p a c e [ as they celebrate an auspicious 10 years as the UK’s only performance art-specific, residential space, studio and gallery. The programme, which is titled PSX, runs from August 12-19: 10 artists are documented in a bold, new photography exhibition in London. The celebrations then culminate on August 21 with a 10-hour, durational performance event featuring new performance commissions by 9 influential performance artists.

Born out of the Occupy movement, ]performance s p a c e [ (PS) has carved out a nurturing space, allowing artists to experiment and evolve their practice in a supportive community. The featured artists, who include Anne Bean, Martin O’Brien, Jade Montserrat and Alastair MacLennan amongst many others, reflect the breadth of these relationships and are a testament to PS’s significant position in the UK’s performance scene, both historically and moving forward.

Co-founded by artistic director Benjamin Sebastian ]performance s p a c e [ continues to carry the torch for performance art, having relocated from East London to Folkestone in 2015. London now welcomes ]performance s p a c e [ back, with an exciting opportunity to experience their distinctive vision and programming. Says Benjamin Sebastian: “Ten years of sustained activity from any DIY artist-run initiative is significant. Particularly from an organisation like ]performance s p a c e [, with a focus on an ephemeral artform such as performance art.”

Unapologetic & poetic, these images act as portals to various collaborations, geographies and moments from ]ps[‘ past, while projecting that energy into their future(s).

The exhibition marks ]ps[‘ 10th anniversary, and celebrates an auspicious decade as the UK’s only performance art-specific, residential space, studio and gallery.

The exhibition features Keijaun Thomas, Nicholas Tee, Benjamin Sebastian, Poppy Jackson, Nina Arsenault, Ron Athey, Kris Canavan and Elizabeth Short (performing as Nick Kilby), Bean, hancock & kelly, and Jade Montserrat.

The exhibition will be activated with live performances on Thursday 12th August by Adriana Disman and Kelvin Atmadibrata.
