There will be a series of three Baroque music concerts taking place in September and October in the Sands Films stage.

Renowned for its dedication to arts and culture, these concerts promise an unforgettable experience through the atmosphere and moods of the Baroque era. With an open-door policy, Sands Films Music Room welcomes all music enthusiasts to join in the celebration of these exquisite performances.

The concert series will commence on Thursday, 14th September, with Carina Drury: Irlandiani. The programme’s theme is the vibrant musical life of 18th-century Dublin, as Carina Drury takes us on a mesmerising journey at the historic Smock Alley Theatre, managed and much influenced by Italian musicians. This will not only be a beautiful concert but is also the London launch of ‘Smock Alley’, the new album by Irlandiani, supported by the Continuo Foundation. Prepare to be transported to a very special place!

Continuing the series on Thursday 21st September, Jack Gonzalez-Harding will deliver a harpsichord recital featuring 17th and 18th-century Iberian and European keyboard music. This is part of a grand tour of European keyboard music of the 17th and 18th Centuries. Gonzalez-Harding’s youthful and passionate virtuosity contrasts sharply with the stereotypical idea of the harpsichord.

Concluding the series on Sunday, 1st October, Angela Hicks, soprano of the renowned duo Fair Oriana, with Aileen Henry on harp, will delight the audience with Monteverdi’s “Lettera Amorosa” and other masterpieces for voice and harp. Hicks’ soulful and emotive performance will explore the concept of “passing on a message” with the support of “baroque gestures” under the art direction of Brian Robins to help bring these timeless compositions to life.

Sands Films Music Room takes pride in its commitment to accessibility. Therefore, these concerts will be hybrid events, ensuring that music lovers from around the world can join in the experience. Whether you prefer to attend in person, enjoy the live broadcast online, or watch the playback after the transmission, Sands Films Music Room aims to bring the magic of Baroque music to everyone.

Reservations for these concerts are available through a voluntary donation, allowing attendees to contribute what they feel comfortable with. This unique approach ensures that music remains accessible to all, while supporting the artists and the continuation of such extraordinary events.
