Dorothy and Marshall
Big, tasty things are putting Bromley Town Hall firmly on the foodie map this autumn. A fittingly British menu will be served in the dining room of the Grade II-listed building, which was once the old courthouse. Local chef Ralph Jones is in charge of the kitchen, cooking up a menu promising treacle for both mains and pud (yes, really!). We’re talking a steaming dish of braised beef short rib with Guinness and black treacle, followed by a dessert of Golden Tate and Lyle treacle tart with raspberries topped with whipped almond clotted cream.

Rambutan
It’s not usual to serve dessert before mains, but then chef, restaurateur and author Cynthia Shanmugalingam is not striving for normality. Okay, she won’t really be serving pudding before mains, but she did tease her latest Sri Lankan restaurant with a soft serve pop-up this summer, with flavours including Nestlé product Milo, banana and toasted rice. The restaurant proper is due to open on Borough’s prestigious Stoney Street this autumn, with menu highlights including aged mutton rolls, Jaffna crab fried rice with bitter greens, and bone marrow curry.
Rambutan, 10 Stoney Street, London SE1 9AD. Opening date and hours TBD.

Joia
It’s all happening at Battersea Power Station. Following a 10-year development, the Grade II listed site opened to the public earlier this month with shops, restaurants, offices and more. Firing up the stoves is two Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sa Pessoa, with his debut London restaurant Joia, housed inside the first London branch of luxe lifestyle hotel art’otel. Spread across three floors, the restaurant boasts a rooftop and a separate bar specialising in vermouths, and Spanish and Portuguese wines. Highlights from the upmarket, Iberian-themed menu include salted cod crudo with pickled onions, tomatoes and olive oil caviar.
Joia, 14th Floor, 1 Electric Boulevard,
Nine Elms, London SW11 8BJ.
Opening date and hours TBD.
