Solo show: Yvonne Wayling FRSA
Yvonne Wayling began her career as an artist during the punk movement of the late 1970s in London, where she studied fine art, majoring in Graphic Design. She has focused across many mediums, exhibiting and collected in the Uk plus further afield in Europe and the States.
These delightful artworks have been created for the show using soft pastel on linen and fine art paper; they have a delicate velvety appearance with a rich powdery texture, from feathered soft marks to hard lines creating the illusion of depth in colour and intensity. Each piece carries the feel of luxury ephemera from a bygone era, an item that has gained its own status.
Captured with an ethereal-like presence, one you would just love to sit back with and ask a host of questions about their original owners.

Wayling says: “The fashion pieces we keep or remember are those that hold a certain value in how they made us feel at the time. Some people can never move away from that feeling that a certain piece of clothing brings and stays there, true to their style. Others will put clothes away but never bring themselves to throw them away. Images of treasured items of clothing can trigger memories of happiness or bring us to ask ‘Why would we have worn that?’ The items of clothing we truly treasure are sometimes the expensive ones, but the ones that we really love are those that made us feel good in ourselves, and those are moments that should be remembered.”
