New Printmaking: A Closer View
In September, LOOP:Artists in Print will be holding its annual exhibition! LOOP’s artists aim to introduce their audience to the joy of seeing prints up close. LOOP’s 2026 show will be full of surprises with each of this year’s thirty-four artists presenting a new body of work at the easily accessible Bankside Gallery, next to Tate Modern. Visitors will receive a warm welcome, with a full programme of printmakers demonstrating their working processes throughout the exhibition.
Special guest artist Michael Taylor, founder of Pauper’s Press and co-founder of Standpoint Gallery, will be showing his innovative and intriguing woodcuts. We are honoured that Mike has agreed to open the Private View on 8th September and to offer us some of his insights. All are welcome.
LOOP was founded in 2005 by MA graduates from Camberwell School of Art and has exhibited every year since. This year LOOP awards its annual Camberwell prize to new MA graduate Caitlin Laing, offering her the chance to show her sensationally delicate mokulito prints in the Bankside show. LOOP also supports No Place Art, giving an exhibition opportunity to a selected artist from its Materiality show and this year is delighted that the distinguished Edinburgh sculptor and printmaker David Lemm will be showing his beautiful mixed- media wall construction.
Printing on found materials, manipulating surfaces to make 3D forms, etching using the elements in remote landscapes, developing digital drawing, folding to make extraordinary book-forms: these are some of the processes explored by LOOP artists in their latest prints as they continue to find new ways to examine and record responses to a rapidly changing world. All work is for sale at reasonable prices and visitors can enjoy it in the best of surroundings, examine it in detail, and experience some of the processes involved as our printmakers share their work and their methods in the gallery.
