Bermondsey Restaurant Revives 2011 Prices
The Coal Shed celebrates its 15th anniversary by turning back the clock and bringing some of its best-loved original dishes back to the table.
Available at The Coal Shed Brighton and The Coal Shed London from 12–25 October 2026, the limited-edition anniversary menu offers three courses for just £35 per person. Inspired by the restaurant’s original 2011 prices, it gives diners a saving of almost 50% compared with ordering comparable dishes from today’s à la carte menu.
The three-course anniversary menu brings back BBQ Jacob’s Ladder, the much-loved original starter, followed by Dry Aged Chateaubriand, served with The Coal Shed’s classic beef dripping chips and peppercorn sauces. The celebration finishes on a suitably nostalgic note with Sticky Toffee Pudding topped with beef fat caramel and vanilla ice cream. For those wishing to make an occasion of it, an optional three-glass wine pairing is available for an additional £35 per person, with each wine selected to complement the starter, main and dessert.
The Coal Shed first opened in Brighton in 2011 with a simple philosophy: source exceptional ingredients and cook them expertly over fire. Fifteen years later, that approach remains at the heart of the restaurant, with sites in both Brighton and London continuing to celebrate high-quality meat, seafood and seasonal produce cooked over coal.
The anniversary menu revisits the dishes that helped define The Coal Shed’s early years, from the rich, slow-cooked BBQ Jacob’s Ladder to its signature Chateaubriand and beef dripping chips.

Fifteen years later, those values haven’t changed. This menu gives us the chance to bring back some of the dishes our earliest guests still remember, at a price inspired by where it all began. It’s our way of celebrating the people, suppliers and guests who have been part of the journey.”
In Brighton, the anniversary menu will run alongside OctoberBEST, joining the city-wide celebration of Brighton’s restaurant scene. The London restaurant will serve the same menu simultaneously, bringing the 15-year story to both cities.
