Stories about survival and desire, shame and pride, love and damage
The Union Theatre becomes a stage for the stories that refuse to be silenced. Voices is a bold, electric showcase of six queer-led theatrical pieces by emerging writer Steven Clark; a bold new queer writer with a wicked ear for humour, a fearless appetite for darkness, and a deep belief that the most urgent stories are the ones we’re still scared to say out loud.
Voices is an unmissable night of raw truth, wicked humour, intimacy, and impact. From brutal psychological intensity to sharp-edged wit and aching tenderness, VOICES brings together six standout works from Clark’s growing catalogue—each one driven by queer characters, queer experiences, and the urgency of being heard.

The showcase features extracts from:
BRUISED — A raw, razor-close drama about homophobia, survival, and the moment you have to decide – how do you forgive the boy who watched?
BENEATH THE UNIFORM — A one-man reckoning with masculinity, duty, desire—and the secrets stitched under a War that changed everything.
F*CKED — Sex, power, shame and obsession collide when a “bit of fun” turns into something you can’t undo.
EMIY — A young trans woman returns to the town that broke her to confront the man who helped shape her trauma
AVAILABLE — Booked. Bare. Broken.—a brutal, funny, unfiltered portrait of sex work, identity, and being seen.
THE LAST SPOTLIGHT – An ageing Drag Queen battles memory, regret and fading fame in a final reckoning with the life behind the lashes.
These are stories about survival and desire, shame and pride, love and damage—where the stakes are personal, the emotions are immediate, and the writing cuts close to the bone. Voices celebrates queer talent onstage and off, giving space to narratives that are too often side-lined, softened, or sanitised. Directed by PK Taylor and Max Turner Prize winner Madeleine MacMahon.
Expect an evening that’s provocative, heartfelt, and fiercely alive—made for audiences who want theatre with bite, bravery, and soul.
