Spooky season parties south of the river

Halloween Costume Party: Come As You Aren’t

Peckham Levels is ‘creeping it real’ this Halloween, throwing a big old party the night the clocks go back to allow for an extra hour of dancing.

Come dressed to impress – this is Peckham so keep it cool, yeah?

And bonus points for weaving in contemporary references to your outfit.

Peckham Levels, Centre Carpark, F1-F6, 95A Rye Lane, London SE15 4ST. October 28, 7:30pm. Admission: £5 – £10. www.peckhamlevels.org/whats-on

Wandsworth Halloween Beer and Cider Festival

While the word ‘Oktoberfest’ is nowhere used in the marketing of this event, it does sound admittedly more like Bavaria’s famous beer festival than a spooky party.

Stately Wandsworth venue Le Gothique & Garden is hosting a drink-all-you-can extravaganza, which promises to be a raucous affair.

£50 will get you unlimited brews – of which there’s 150 varieties to choose between. Yikes! (Let’s just hope they have unlimited sick buckets available too for when things get absolutely steaming.)

Le Gothique & Garden, Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, John Archer Way, Windmill Road, London SW18 3SX. October 25 – 28, 6pm – 11pm. Admission: £13.27+. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wandsworth-halloween-beer-cider-festival-2023-tickets-700763581737?aff=ebdssbdestsearch

The Big Disco Halloween Special

If your vibe could be summed up as ‘Halloween, but make it glitter’, then get your crew down to Brixton Jamm, where its regular club night

The Big Disco is being given a spooktacular makeover. Dress to impress is the motto here, but keep it in theme.

In their own terms, think ‘groovy ghouls, sparkly skeletons and fabulous freaks’.

A rotation of DJs will keep you dancing under the disco ball into the early hours, while special performances, including appearances from That’s Drag, have also been promised.

Brixton Jamm, 261 Brixton Road, London SW9 6LH. October 28, 11pm – 4am. Admission: £6+.  www.brixtonjamm.org/event/the-big-disco-halloween-special/

Haunted Roof Riot

Taking the graveyard to the rooftop is the Bussey Building, which is transforming its sky high bar into a ‘haunted graveyard of terror’ for one night only this Halloween.

Look forward to wickedly themed cocktails (you can enjoy one for free if you arrive before 7pm!), live DJs and views to, er, die for – but don’t: you won’t want to miss this party.

Blankets will be on hand to warm those who get thoroughly chilled.

Bussey Building, 133 Unit B3.1 Bussey Building, Copeland Road, SE15 3SN. October 28, 6pm – 11pm. Admission: £5 – £10. www.designmynight.com/london/bars/peckham/bussey-rooftop-bar/haunted-rooftop-riot

Neon Naked Life Drawing at Prince of Peckham

Neon Naked Life Drawing: Halloween Special

So you don’t fancy a full on horror fest or dancing until you drop down dead, but you still want to do something to mark spooky season? Paint your perfect vision for the night at Prince of Peckham, where a horror-themed edition of its fruity arts and crafts class is unfolding.

It’s life drawing, but with a twist: you’ll be using neon reactive materials to draw the models. Rusty? The class starts with some playful drawing games to get you warmed up, then it’s over to you to produce your night’s masterpiece.

Prince of Peckham, 1 Clayton Road, London SE15 5JA. October 31, 6pm – 9:30pm. Admission: £16.76. www.princeofpeckham.co.uk/listings/neon-naked-life-drawing-halloween-special/

Halloween House Party: Downstairs at Market House

If you’re happy to embrace just a bit of Halloween but don’t want it getting too much in the way, then head to Market House Brixton, where its weekly House Party is a “no fuss space” with tunes to keep you dancing into the early hours.

On Friday 28, it’ll be Halloween themed, yes, but there’s no dress code specified (a bit of fake blood around your neck will surely do the job?) and the music will be a mix of funk, soul, disco, hip-hop, RnB, reggae, latin and even dancehall – with maybe the odd creepy song thrown in too.

Leave all that horror malarkey to someone else’s nightmares, eh?

Market House Brixton, 443 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8LN. October 28, 9pm – 3am. Admission: £6.12/FREE entry before 11pm. www.markethousebrixton.co.uk/event/sounds-like-hip-hop-halloween-party/
