Windrush Weekend celebrates 75 years of art, culture and creativity within south London’s Carribean community, across generations and beyond.

From 22 – 25 June 2023, the South London Gallery will be running a weekend of events for all ages, celebrating our local Caribbean community. We will platform pioneering Windrush descendants through cooking workshops, art and play and a careers panel. This free weekend of events is an opportunity to learn about and engage with the legacy of Windrush here in south London

Windrush Day, on 22 June, is a key moment to highlight the many contributions of Caribbean communities across the UK. This year marks the 75th anniversary of when the HMT Empire Windrush first docked in Britain in 1948, and through our programme of activities we seek to broaden public conversation around the past, present and future of modern Britain.
