Exploding Heads Present: Colin From Portsmouth

2024 will see the first live outing for two cult heroes with their fingers on the nation’s pulse: angry-about-everything Colin from Portsmouth and former-professional-footballer-turned-current-pundit Ian Fiveankles will be touring the UK.

Colin rings into Anthony’s radio call-in at least twice a day to vent his frustrations about the burning (and not so burning) issues, and he’s not going to stop just because Anthony’s taking a break from radio to embark on a theatre tour. It’s a brave and terrifying new world for Colin – there’s now a new government in charge and the end of the world is looming. At least the prospect of a Trump presidency is keeping him from total despair.

But this evening isn’t supposed to be about Colin. This is supposed to be An Evening With Ian Fiveankles, a razzmatazz celebration of one of the nation’s best loved, if least known footballers. Ian isn’t just here for the money, although the money is vital for him, he’s here to impress and win back his ex-wife Denise. Will Colin from Portsmouth let his night go off without a hitch?

The Exploding Heads burst onto the scene with their online series “How Will They Line Up?” which was commissioned by the American Broadcaster ESPN for six years, and included stunts such as trying to visit all 20 Premier League grounds in a 24 hour  period as part of their coverage for the opening of the 2019/20 season (they missed achieving it by just 40 minutes). They have gained fans and plaudits with their sports and political satire, whether in their popular online videos featuring Colin from Portsmouth or their sports comedy podcast Sports Horn, which was nominated for Best Comedy and Best Sports Show at the British Podcast Awards. The duo, Mark Davison and Anthony Richardson, react to breaking news stories with breathtaking speed, reaching millions of views on Twitter, Tiktok and beyond. Their celebrity fans include Gary Lineker, James O’Brien, Thom Yorke and many serving politicians who’d prefer to remain anonymous.
