They certainly know how to put on a party

In the incredibly crowded space of bars and entertainment spots it is hard to stand out. In the heart of the west end the competition is fierce but the potential custom is huge. Having already established six sports bar, gaming and entertainment venues, BOX has opened its seventh on Shaftesbury Avenue, throwing a launch party to celebrate the arrival of BOX Piccadilly, writes Christopher Peacock.

Having a well established brand is great when launching into such an area as Piccadilly and what they have done so well is creating a sports bar with a wide appeal. Where other sports bars can be glorified man caves, BOX opts for a cleaner aesthetic and whilst certainly covering all the sport (there are 33 TV screens!) they also know there can be more to be had in entertainment spaces.

Along with a decent drinks menu there is classic sports bar food available from Pizzas to Sliders and chicken tenders and the like. Along with a photo booth there are karaoke booths, Shuffleboard tables and interactive Darts boards to keep the night going well beyond the match you have been watching.

The offerings and events will continue to grow as they will have many live music events and DJ’s playing Thursday to Sunday. And they certainly know how to put on a party. Throughout the night dancers would work both bars and a selection of the food options were passed around – the highlight of those was certainly the mini burgers.

The drinks were flowing and along with some of the Classic cocktails their Headliner cocktails, which are twists on some of the classics, go down very well indeed ;the Passion Fruit & Yuzu Spritz being my choice for a clean refreshing beverage.

For a taste of the live music to be expected we were graced with performances from The Rolling Strollers who lit up the rooms with their takes on pop classics in New Orleans brass band style.

The sporting calendar is always pretty stacked and BOX Piccadilly will certainly be there for it all. Its location is ideal for anybody passing through central London from tourists to commuters; you can definitely expect it to be popular. The late kicks-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer in North America will certainly take advantage of the global city that London is and I’m sure that when the fixtures are announced the tables will be booked up really quickly.

BOX Piccadilly, Shaftesbury Avenue Opening Hours:Monday-Thursday: 11:00-23:30; Friday & Saturday: 11:00-00:00; Sunday: 12:00-22:30
