Get Cooking With Kathryn

Fresh from the success of her Best Newcomer nomination at this year’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards and sold out runs in New York and LA, Broadway star and award-winning clown Kate Owens brings her smash-hit debut show Cooking with Kathryn to London’s iconic Soho Theatre.

Meet Kathryn—the Southern belle’s answer to Nigella Lawson, with a heart of gold and more wine in her veins than Jesus at the Last Supper. With her mama recently passed, she is stepping into the spotlight as the self-declared “star” of her family’s long-running community cookin’ show—a legacy passed down through generations of Kathryns before her.

With a casserole in the oven and grief quietly simmering, she’s on a mission to make her mama proud. But as the recipes get weirder and the wine gives way to vodka, memories bubble to the surface, secrets spill, and a new kind of heat starts to rise—maybe even the romantic kind.

Cooking with Kathryn is a riotous solo comedy about legacy and the dreams we put on the back burner to keep tradition alive. With live music, shadow puppetry, and a do or die quest to get married, join Kathryn’s cooking show for the deranged, by the deranged.

Kate Owens is a New York-based actor celebrated for her fearless characters and wildly inventive physical comedy. Whether she’s making audiences howl on stage or lighting up the screen, Kate brings a bold, unapologetic energy to everything she does.

She recently appeared on Broadway in the GLAAD Award-winning Melissa Etheridge: My Window, and on screen in Hulu’s The Other Black Girl. A ‘New Face of Comedy’ at Just For Laughs and a screen test alum for Saturday Night Live, Kate is no stranger to pushing boundaries—and buttons—in the best way.

She’s also one of the rare performers to land a spot with Cirque du Soleil, and trained under legendary clown teacher Philippe Gaulier.

When she’s not performing or developing new work, Kate teaches clown workshops, drinks way too much coffee, and hangs out with her dog, Sammy—who is very supportive of her career.

Soho Theatre, Upstairs. Mon 5th to Sat 10th January at 6.45pm. Duration: 60 minutes.
