Marin’s 16, queer and in love. When her parents try to control her, she escapes into a dream world to discover herself.

Lulla is a funny, scary, wild new play from critically acclaimed writer Ben SantaMaria, who recently completed the Paines Plough Tour the Writer programme. It was Top 100 longlisted for the Verity Bargate Award and this premiere production is produced by Flaming Theatre and directed by Martha J. Baldwin.

Martha J. Baldwin directs this boldly physical production, laced with folk horror and dark fantasy. Take a surreal journey into Marin’s subconscious where she confronts her deepest desires and nightmares, guided by the mysterious gender-shifting Lady Nightshade and haunted by her childhood lullabies.

Lulla is a poetic and transgressive adventure for ages 16+. It powerfully explores the pressure to conform and the shame forced upon many young LGBTQ+ people, through Marin’s battle to embrace her emerging identity.

The world premiere of Lulla is produced by Flaming Theatre and stars Anna Marks Pryce as ‘Marin’, Meg Walls as ‘Dolores/Lady Nightshade’, Madeleine MacMahon as ‘Mum/Gran/Lady Nightshade 2’ and Robin Berry as ‘Dad/Dollmaker/Lady Nightshade 3’.

The production is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and was developed with support from the Peggy Ramsay Foundation.

Omnibus Theatre, 1 Clapham Common Northside, London, SW4 0QW from 30 June – 10 July 2026.
