Firefighters tackled a house fire in Nunhead in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, June 15).

Twenty-five crew members were called to the blaze on Crewys Road at 2.20am and battled the flames until 3.46am.

Half of the first floor of the house was damaged by the fire.

Thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to work out how the fire had spread and identify any remaining hot spots.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters recommend that you have a look at our online Home Fire Safety Checker to make sure there are no hidden hazards in your home.

“The online tool will ask you a series of questions that will help us work out the level of risk in your home, or the home of someone you care for. It only takes a few minutes to get tailored advice to keep yourself and loved ones safe from fire.

The Brigade was called at 0220 and the fire was under control by 0346. Fire crews from New Cross, Peckham, Old Kent Road and Greenwich fire stations attended the scene.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
