As the Easter weekend approaches, residents should note that their bin collections will be subject to several changes over the next week. With Easter Sunday arriving on March 31, the bank holidays scheduled for Good Friday, March 29, and Easter Monday, April 1, will impact collections throughout Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs.
The local authorities for each borough have stated that locals should check their revised bin collection dates to ensure waste is taken away. Below we have compiled a list of the updated bin collection dates in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich for the Easter period.
Bexley
Waste collections are planned to take place as normal on Good Friday, March 29, in Bexley. However, no collections will take place on Easter Monday, April 1. All collections between April 1 and April 5 are scheduled to take place one day later than scheduled, meaning collections planned for April 5 will take place on April 6.
Normal waste collections in Bexley are planned to resume on April 8. The council has advised that recycling centres across the borough are particularly busy over holidays and residents should take their recycling home if banks are full to avoid fly-tipping fines.
Reuse and recycling centres on the Thames Road in Crayford and Maidstone Road in Foots Cray will be open from 7.30am to 4pm. The centre on Maidstone Road is closed on Wednesdays. Textiles and small electrical items can also be recycled using the free home collection service from the TRAID clothing reuse charity through the council website.
Bromley
Residents living in Bromley borough should note that collections will not be affected on March 29. Collections between April 1 and April 5 will then be picked up one day later.
Waste collections will return to normal on April 8. The authority said that subscribers of the green garden waste collection service will have their bins collected on the usual collection date.
Greenwich
Collections in Greenwich borough will also not be affected on Good Friday. Residents are asked to note that collections scheduled between April 1 and April 5 will take place one day later, the same as in Bexley and Bromley boroughs.
The authority has asked residents to ensure their bins or sacks are placed outside ready to be collected before 6am on their new collection day. Clinical waste collections are not planned to be affected by the revised schedule.
The reuse and recycling centre on Nathan Way will be open from 9am to 4.30pm on Good Friday and Easter Monday. The council said original ID such as a valid driver’s licence or council tax bill will be required to use the service.
