Rye Lane bags eight nominations at the National Film Academy Awards

A film based in Peckham is up for ‘Best British Film’ and seven other titles at the National Film Academy Awards.

The National Film Academy will host their 9th annual awards next week – and ‘Rye Lane’ is up for multiple wins.

The rom-com film, set in Peckham and Brixton, has received nominations across various categories, including Best Comedy, Best British Film, and Best Drama. It marked Raine Allen-Miller’s directorial debut.

The two leads – Vivian Oparah (Yas) and David Johnsson (Dom), are also both up for Best Newcomer, and Simon Manyonda (Nathan) and Poppy Allen-Quarmby (Cass) for Best Supporting Actor/Actress.

Writers, Nathan Byron and Tom Melia are nominated for Best Screenplay.

The ceremony will take place on Monday, July 3, with the winners announced shortly after.
