Southwark will have its own programme of Pride events in 2023.
Local organisation Living Bankside will be running the events alongside the London LGBTQ+ Centre, based in Borough, and Southwark Council.
Amir Eden, who runs Living Bankside, said: “We are delighted to announce our plans to host Pride in Southwark next year and look forward to working with the London LGBTQ+ Centre, Southwark Council and other partners to deliver a programme of activities and events in 2023 which enable people from all backgrounds, including those from the LGBTQ+ community to feel welcome, valued, loved and an integral part of our neighbourhood.”
If you want to get involved in the Pride in Southwark, whether participating, volunteering, sponsoring, or otherwise, then please contact info@livingbankside.org.
It comes as the council agreed a five-year lease with the London LGBTQ+ Centre on Hopton Street near Blackfriars Road, after a pop-up period when the centre held more than 200 meetings.

Lip Wieckowski, the centre’s manager, said “Working at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre has cemented my belief that community spaces are extremely important in helping people grow into themselves. I’ve seen the way that the centre has transformed the lives of visitors in such a short space of time, and I’m so proud that we’ll be able to carry on being there for all who need us in the years to come.”
One visitor said: “The space that you all created offered the child I care for safety for a day, in a world that isn’t always so kind to them. You are doing good work, and I’m sure that plenty of people (myself included) are thankful for such an accessible, safe, community-centred space in London.”
