MICHAEL Appleton has revealed Conor McGrandles and Tayo Edun are available for selection in tomorrow’s clash at table-topping Portsmouth.
The Addicks duo had been on the sidelines after sustaining injuries earlier in the campaign but each featured in last Sunday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Cray Valley PM.
Midfielder McGrandles lasted 74 minutes, while defender Edun got just over an hour under his belt before they were substituted.
Charlton head to Fratton Park with no fresh injury concerns and boosted by the news McGrandles and Edun had responded positively to their cup run outs.
Appleton told the club’s website: “They both came through it with no issues, which I was delighted with.
“We knew we’d get an hour or so out of both them.
“Obviously Conor played a little bit more because of the situation.
“We’ve had no ill effects of the weekend with those two and they’ll be involved to some degree on Saturday.
“Apart from where we’ve been at in the last couple of games, we’re pretty much as we were.”
Portsmouth remain unbeaten after 15 League One games under John Mousinho, although they were defeated 1-0 by National League outfit Chesterfield last week in the cup.
Charlton seem to always have a knack of getting a decent result at Fratton Park, something they have in common with their current boss and one-time Pompey manager.
Appleton said: “Clearly there’s a belief and a momentum within their group that they can win every game and they certainly don’t expect to lose.
“It’s going to be a tough game. I’ve got a decent record at Fratton Park as a manager and I really want to continue that.
“The lads are in good spirits and they’re looking forward to the game.
“When a side is at the top of the table, they’re there for a reason and it’s because they’ve got quality in abundance.
“We’re aware of those qualities but at the same time we do think that we’ve got a game that’s capable of hurting them as well.”
Charlton have been allocated 282 tickets for Wednesday evening’s televised FA Cup replay at Cray Valley PM.
Priority has been given to fans with 650 loyalty points and the limited number of spots are expected to sell out quickly for the short trip to Eltham.
Meanwhile, Daniel Kanu – on loan at Southend – has been selected by Sierra Leone for their World Cup qualifying double header against Ethiopia and Egypt.
