BROMLEY have reported racists abuse directed at Nicke Kabamba to the police after the striker missed a late penalty in the Ravens’ 0-0 draw against Chesterfield at SMH Group Stadium.
Andy Woodman’s side, aiming for an eighth successive win in League Two, had the chance to win it in the 89th minute after handball, but Zach Hemming denied Kabamba.
Kabamba, 32, has scored eight league goals this season after he moved to Hayes Lane from Barnet in the 2025 January window.
“We have reported these accounts to the relevant platforms and they will also be passed on to the police,” Bromley said in a statement.
“Actions of this manner simply do not belong in our society, let alone the sport we all love.
“Unfortunately, as a football club, we can’t change the way people think.
“However, we can use our status and platform to continue to fight for those who are subject to such vile and cowardly abuse.”
“Nicke, since arriving at the football club, you have been a fantastic asset. Not only as a footballer, but as a human,” the statement added.
“A hero to our supporters and a friend to everyone at Bromley Football Club.
“We will continue to support and stand by Nicke and any player, staff or supporter who are subject to any type of abuse.”
Meanwhile, Woodman felt his side were better than Paul Cook’s Spireites, who are eighth in the table, a point off the play-off places.
“It is a tough place to come, we have known that over the years,” woodman said. “It is a big club in this league that has got riches that we could only dream of. They have signed seven players in this window. It was always going to be tough but I thought we were by far the best team out there today. I thought we were brilliant. We were solid. It is a good point away from home, there won’t be many teams who come here and get a result.
“I keep hearing people say we are a one-dimensional team but I don’t think we were too one-dimensional today. I thought some of our build-up play in the right areas was fantastic. We just couldn’t get the breakthrough today but on another day we will.
“I think we are by far the fittest team in the league and I think we see it every week. Every week teams can’t live with us. There are many elements to a football team and that is one of super strengths.
“These teams that play out from the back – it is brilliant for us – we probably should have had a goal or two when they were doing that.”
On the penalty, Woodman said: “The keeper has made a good save, in my opinion. If the keeper goes the other way it is a brilliant penalty. Nicke should not have his head down because he has got us out of situations before. The keeper has guessed the right way and it is a good save – it was in the corner – and you have to take it on the chin.”
Leaders Bromley host Swindon Town, who are six points behind, on Saturday (3pm).
