OLIVER Glasner said Adam Wharton could start his first Premier League game since October against Aston Villa at Selhurst Park on Tuesday.
Wharton has made three substitute league appearances since his return from a groin injury, the latest in the 2-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
England international Wharton’s one start was in the 2-0 win against Doncaster Rovers in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
“After winning the mood is good. Everybody is feeling well. Players are fit with no injuries, so it’s all good,” Glasner said at his press conference on Monday.
“It’s possible [Wharton] starts the game against Villa. Adam is doing well, doing fine, and there’s a possibility that he starts the game.”
Daniel Munoz scored the second goal with a brilliant finish against the Cottagers. He has excelled in a right wing-back role, with a goal and two assists in his last four games.
Glasner also has depth on the left with Tyrick Mitchell and Ben Chilwell. Palace have kept six successive clean sheets away from home.
“It’s never about the system,” Glasner said. “It’s about how the players are moving between the lines. For us, [three at the back] works, especially on the right side we have a very attacking wing back.
“You can play with a back three and be very vulnerable. You can play with a back four and be very vulnerable – and it can be the opposite.
“We have to think about what’s best for the Aston Villa game, how they play and finding the perfect fit.”
Meanwhile, Villa have injury worries over Tyrone Mings and Morgan Rogers.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery said: “We are training this afternoon so let’s see. We only played on Saturday, which was a very big effort physically and mentally, so we have to recover for tomorrow.
“The difficulty of that going into the next match is always there.”
