Crystal Palace defender Joachim Anderson has revealed Roy Hodgson is demanding a top half Premier League finish.
The Eagles appeared to be in freefall during the latter stages of Patrick Vieira’s reign last season, dropping like a stone towards a potential relegation battle.
But following Hodgson’s reappointment in the SE25 hot-seat, the vastly experienced former England boss eventually led Palace to 11th place, suffering just two defeats in ten matches.
And Anderson told CBS Sports Golazo the aim this season is to go at least one place higher under in 2023/24 to ensure Palace’s name appears in the upper half of the league standings.
The Danish defender said: “I’ve worked with him only three months, but I had a really good impression of him.
“He keeps it simple. He gives the player confidence, something we lacked a little bit at the time he got in, so he’s been really great.
“We had some good results with him the last ten games in the Premier League, so I’m really looking forward to the new season.
“Hopefully we can continue those results and build from there.
“Roy has said we want to finish in the top 10.
“I like to hear that, It’s a good statement and I think we have the team to do it.”
Anderson added: “We have some good, hungry young players who can perform at a high level.
“We just need to be more consistent in our season and at the end of the day we can achieve something good.”
