AFC Wimbledon have drafted in goalkeeper Alex Bass on loan from Sunderland ahead of the forthcoming League Two campaign.
The 25-year-old will spend the entire season with the Dons and becomes their ninth addition of the summer.
Bass will now battle it out with Nikola Tzanev and Nathan Broome to become the Wombles’ regular stopper under the watchful eye of goalkeeping coach Ashley Bayes.
He told the club’s website: “As soon as I heard about the opportunity to be here I was really excited.
“I’m here to be myself and hopefully improve the team. I’ve heard great things about Bayzo (Bayes).
“Aaron Ramsdale speaks very highly of him, which I think is the best praise he can receive.
“A fresh start is what I’ve been looking for, I can’t wait to get going.
“I like to be dominant when coming for crosses and I feel I am comfortable on the ball.
“You know you’re going to get hit in this league but you have to command your area and be strong.”
Meanwhile, Josh Davison is backing Josh Neufville to make a big impact for Johnnie Jackson’s side after both he and the new signing scored in a 4-0 friendly win at Met Police.
Davison told afcwimbledon.co.uk: “The one thing you know about Josh Neufville is that he’s going to threaten by getting in behind.
“He’s quick and he’ll make things happen.
“Just there and then, he won the penalty from a ball over the top and it was as simple as that.”
Youngster Paris Lock was also among the scorers at Met Police and also drew praise from striker Davison.
He added: “Paris is a good young player.
“I’d have to say it’s the most I’ve seen of him, but he seems a good lad.
“If he keeps going, grafts and puts his head down, he’s got a bright future ahead of him.”
