PORT Vale beat competition from clubs in League One and League Two to sign Ronan Curtis after the attacker left AFC Wimbledon.

Curtis, 28, has signed a three-year contract with the Valiants, who were relegated from League One last season.

Curtis joined the Dons in January after initially training with Johnnie Jackson’s squad as he recovered from a cruciate ligament injury that kept him out for eleven months.

Ireland international Curtis had an eventful time at Plough Lane. He scored a 96th-minute winner after coming on for his debut in the 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town and struck the only goal in the 94th minute at home to Milton Keynes.

Curtis then scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Harrogate before being sent off three minutes later. He ended the campaign with five goals in seventeen games.

“I am delighted to welcome Ronan to the Vale,” Valiants manager Darren Moore said on his club’s official website. “He’s a player with a proven calibre above League Two level and we are really pleased that he has chosen to commit to the club long-term amidst strong interest in both League One and League Two.

“He is a player with wonderful technical ability and experience. His versatility adds an exciting dynamic to the squad, which I’m sure will be appreciated by our supporters, and I am really looking forward to welcoming Ronan to the club.”
