JOHNNIE Jackson said his side conceded a “ridiculously soft goal” as AFC Wimbledon lost 1-0 at home to Crawley on Tuesday night.
Danilo Orsi scored the only goal of the game twelve minutes from time.
The Dons felt they should have been awarded a penalty when Omar Bugiel was dragged down by Jay Williams.
Liam Kelly hit the crossbar for the visitors in the first half before after the break Josh Davison was denied at the back post by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Corey Addai.
Orsi finished from close range after Will Wright’s long throw-in.
Wimbledon missed the chance to go seventh in the League Two table.
“We weren’t clinical enough in either box and it proved to be the difference,” Jackson said on Wimbledon’s website. “It’s something we highlighted before the game: If we want to have a killer mentality and get where we want to get to, we’ve got to be clinical in those boxes and we haven’t done that. “For 65 minutes we were the better team and created some great chances that we didn’t take.
“We gave them a ridiculously soft goal where we didn’t clear our lines and they got a tap-in because we went sloppy. It’s another game where we feel we should’ve had more. It’s really annoying.”
There was another blow for the Dons as defender Kofi Balmer went off injured in the 40th minute.
Jackson said: “He’s done his hamstring. At this stage we don’t know how bad it is. He’s been excellent for us since he came in.
“That’s where we’re at with injuries right now, Ryan Johnson and Joe Lewis are out and now Kofi.”
Wimbledon travel to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
Jackson added: “We have to be clinical. There’s no point in carving out these chances that we are and not taking them. The outstanding chances of the night came to us and we didn’t take them. We have to drill home the defensive side of things – we can’t be sloppy in our own box.
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves, we have another game in a few days, we may look to freshen things up. Saturday is a game we can go and win but we have to better in both boxes.”
