Charlton Athletic boss gives injury update – as he makes demand of his side

NATHAN Jones wants his Charlton Athletic side to use Tuesday’s draw against Lincoln City to give them the confidence to a “potent” rather than a “passive” side ahead of their trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Jones got his first point as Addicks manager after a 2-0 defeat at Reading in his first game in charge.

Ian Evatt’s Bolton are third in League One, one point off second.

“We’ve got to build on Tuesday’s game, not just harness it, we have to build on it. We want to be a front-footed and dominant side, to do that you have to build momentum and that was a start. It was a different intensity from the Reading game, a different level of performance in terms of being more potent. That is what we have to do, we have to build on it, it’s not just harnessing it because, as I said, we do not want to be a passive team,” Jones said.

Jones gave an injury update ahead of the game, with Chuks Aneke and Terry Taylor both available.

“We had to replace Kayne Ramsay so we are accessing him and seeing how he is, we will know more in the coming days,” Jones said.

“He had just had a stiff hamstring so we are waiting on scan results to find out if it is just stiffness or if there was any kind of damage. We accessed that yesterday and we are now waiting on results.

“We want everyone to be fit and available, not just Chuks. We have had some people out, [Panutche] Camara is back, Hec [Michael Hector] won’t be long. We have got real strength to choose from. We are going to demand from them, they put in a big shift against Reading. We are going to prepare well to go into Bolton and prepare for a tough game.

“They will pose an excellent test. They are right up the top going for automatic promotion. The manager has been there a few years, they are well drilled and know what they are doing. We have to travel there and make sure we are the best version of us otherwise it’ll be a tough tough game.

“Ian Evatt is an excellent manager, he has done really well at that football club, got them promoted and they were unfortunate last year. Now they are showing that they are stronger again, they have improved year in year out. The stability they have got has really helped that.”

Charlton could have over 400 supporters traveling to the game.

Jones added: “Any support we get is vital. Going up to a place that is tough, there will be a decent crowd there, it’s a team that is playing well and they know what they are doing. We are going to have to be as a football club the best version of ourselves.”
