CHARLTON Athletic are in pole position to land Dunfermline Athletic left-back Josh Edwards after he received a better salary offer in South London.
The Addicks and Bristol Rovers have both had bids for 24-year-old Edwards accepted by the Scottish Championship club.
But Charlton are favourites to sign the former Airdrieonians defender after offering him more money, according to the Bristol Post.
Charlton manager Nathan Jones wants a squad shake-up this summer after he steered the side away from relegation danger after taking over in February.
Having lost seven and drawn two of their previous nine games before Jones arrived at The Valley, they went on a fourteen-game unbeaten run to comfortably survive in League One.
Charlton have already completed one piece of defensive business this summer, after they triggered a one-year extension in Thierry Small’s contract. They also want him to sign a longer deal.
Edwards played 39 times in all competitions for Airdrieonians when they were a League One side before joining Dunfermline in 2019.
He has played 182 times and scored ten goals for the Pars.
