CHARLTON Athletic have triggered a one-year extension in Lucas Ness’s contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025.

Six-foot-three Defender Ness, 22, has made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Addicks this season after loans spells at Hampton & Richmond Borough and Torquay United.

Ness signed from Metropolitan Police in 2020 after a trial and has made 43 appearances for Charlton.

Ness won two player of the month awards last season.

Manager Nathan Jones gave his reaction on Charlton’s website.

He said: “We’re delighted to secure Lucas. He’s been a part of the squad and part of the team all season. He’s not played a lot since I’ve come in as it’s very difficult to change a side that’s unbeaten.

“However, we’re delighted to secure him. He’s a fantastic character, a good defender and someone that’s come through the ranks.

“We’re very proud of him and very proud to secure him for another year.”
