CHARLTON Athletic are hopeful of having Kazenga LuaLua available for this weekend’s League One clash against Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.

The Addicks have agreed a deal with the former Brighton & Hove Albion winger.

The 33-year-old’s last senior competitive game was in the Greek top flight with Levadiakos last May.

“We’re just waiting for international clearance to see whether he will be involved this weekend,” Charlton manager Nathan Jones said in his pre-match press conference. “He’s a player that I’ve worked with over a number of years. I worked with him at Brighton where he was magnificent, and he came in and did a similar job for me at Luton.

“He’s someone that we haven’t got here. In wide areas, Tyreece Campbell is probably the only natural one. We wanted to have that option. I know Kazenga very well and he’s just left Greece so it was an ideal opportunity.”

Jones added: “He’s one of those physical phenomenons that you could chuck him on the moon for a year and he’d come back and be able to be potent for a certain amount of minutes.

“That’s the type of athlete he is. He’s a great lad, a fantastic player and he’s had a real good career.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with him and he makes us as a group, as a club and hopefully as an 11, better.”
