IAN Maatsen has had his Chelsea contract extended until 2026 – and will spend the rest of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Maatsen, 21, played fifteen times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season but now heads to the Bundesliga where he will link up with England winger Jadon Sancho, who has returned to the Westfalenstadion on loan from Manchester United.
Maatsen has made 16 appearances for Chelsea after his debut in a 7-1 win against Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup in September 2019.
The Netherlands under-21 international had season-long loans at Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and last season helped Burnley achieve promotion from the Championship.
