CHELSEA have released a video chronicling their former captain Conor Gallagher’s journey at the club from when he signed his first professional deal after the England midfielder completed a £33million move to Atletico Madrid.

Gallagher, 24, has signed a five-year deal with the La Liga side, bringing an end to a sixteen-year association with the Blues.

Gallagher made his debut for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel in a 1-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park in August 2022, after loan spells in the Championship with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City and in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.

He first captained the side last season in the absences of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Gallagher appeared to be one of the few constants in a Chelsea side that has seen more than £1billion spent on it under owner Todd Boehly.

But he has now departed for a new chapter in Spain where he will link up with another ex-Blues captain, César Azpilicueta.
