OLIVER Glasner said Adam Wharton and Chadi Riad were back in training – but Crystal Palace’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Selhurst Park on Saturday will come too early for them.
Wharton hasn’t played since he went off in the 27th minute of the Eagles’ 2-1 win at Aston Villa in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on October 30. He had started the season struggling with a groin problem.
Riad has only played twice this season since his £14million move from Barcelona in the summer. He suffered an ACL injury in the 4-0 win at home to Norwich City in the second round of the EFL Cup on August 27.
“Adam was out for four weeks, but he trained with us,” Glasner said.
“If he can train completely next week, then maybe he will be available for Brighton. We have Brighton, and then Arsenal twice, and we really hope that he’s available for those games.
“They’re going in the right direction, training with us but for both the game is too early,
“Especially for Chadi, because he has been out for three-and-a-half months now. He will play with the Under-21s on Tuesday, getting his first 45 minutes in three months. He’s doing really well.”
