OLIVER Glasner was satisfied with an “okay” point as Crystal Palace played out a gruelling 0-0 stalemate against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Boxing Day.
Ismaila Sarr cleared the ball off the line from Antoine Semenyo’s early effort.
Sarr then had the ball in the back of the Cherries net after beating goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, only for the Senegal international to be flagged offside.
“It’s okay it is a point,” Glasner said. “I think the game was like we expected, a lot of duels and very intense. They are doing well and on a run so it is fine.
“We knew that set plays especially in the first half we struggled twice but in the end we did well in defending. They had several shots but we didn’t need a big save from our goalkeeper. We had three or four opportunities to score, overall I think it’s okay.”
Palace have lost only one of their last seven Premier League games.
“Every Premier League game is tough, especially away games,” Glasner said. “It’s important you are stable in defending and waiting for situations. Of course there are things to improve but overall it’s going in the right direction.
“You could see today that they played very direct, in behind, had a lot of pace almost from every position. It makes it difficult to play against them. Sometimes you move the ball very quickly and then we could switch the sides and create situations. It was a good performance and a very important point.”
Eagles defender Marc Guehi had a blunt assessment of the spectacle but was pleased with a clean sheet after losing 5-1 at home to Arsenal last weekend.
“To be honest, it was a rubbish game,” the England international said. “Boring for the neutral, 0-0, not what you want to see on Boxing Day, but we’ll take it.
“Considering what happened last game, it’s kind of all you can ask for, really, a point away against a good side, so we’ll take it. [A clean sheet] is positive, but we can always do better. We can always improve, so that’s the goal.”
