OLIVER Glasner has called for “clarity” as he admitted there is “uncertainty” over the immediate future of Trevoh Chalobah.
Centre-back Chalobah, 25, who is on a season-long loan from Chelsea, was left out of the Eagles’ 1-0 win over Stockport County in the third round of the FA Cup at the weekend because of a contractual issue.
The Blues have been linked with recalling Chalobah and potentially using him as part-exchange to tempt Palace into selling them Marc Guehi.
“It’s a little bit of a tricky situation,” Glasner admitted. “Chelsea has the possibility to call him back from loan.
“There is a little bit of uncertainty at the moment over will they do it. We need clarity, he needs clarity, so that’s the situation and let’s see.
“He wants to stay here but it’s a decision Chelsea can take, they can decide to call him back. He is performing very well for us and has high standing in our locker room.
“He wants to stay, but we are not the pilots flying the plane.”
Glasner had more positive news on player availability ahead of Palace’s game away to Ruud Van Nisterooy’s Leicester City on Wednesday.
“The flu is gone fortunately,” Glasner said. “So all the players who were ill [last week] are now available. JP Mateta is fine, Maxence Lacroix and Tyrick Mitchell are available. They have trained without any problems.
“Another positive is that Will Hughes is now available. He has trained two days with us. So Will is going to be in the squad tomorrow.
“Adam [Wharton] will not be in [in the squad] but he is making progress. Everything is going in the right direction, I expect him back training with the team, maybe end of January, but probably the beginning of February.”
Glasner added: “I think Ruud van Nistelrooy is a great manager. I think he showed this in his interim games with Manchester United. I have a lot of respect for him.
“We always have respect for our opponents. It was the same against Stockport and they showed us they were a good side.
“They have wingers with pace, like [Stephy] Mavididi. El Khannouss has signed for more than 20 million, a very creative player.
“Jamie Vardy is one of the top scorers in the last decade in the Premier League. So it’s a good team, a good mixture between experience and young and talented, high-challenging players. It’s a little challenging, but again, we feel very good.”
