A new study has revealed the most successful football transfers of the 2024-25 season, with Jordan Ayew topping the ranking.
Betting experts at Compare.bet analysed players who were transferred to the Premier League during the summer window for a minimum fee of £3 million.
Using data from the Premier League’s Fantasy Football Statistics, the study examined various factors for each player, including the number of goal assists, penalties missed, and own goals.
This determined how many Fantasy Football points each player has scored so far in the current 2024/25 season. Using this data, the research then calculated how many points each player has scored per million pounds spent as part of the transfer fee.
This determined which players have been the most successful since their transfer to the Premier League. Only players who have played for more than 1,000 minutes were included in the ranking.
The study crowns Jordan Ayew the most successful transfer of the 2024-25 season. After being purchased for approximately £5 million from Crystal Palace, Ayew has scored 50 Fantasy Football points while playing for Leicester City. Steven McQuillan, the lead writer at Compare.bet, said: “Transfer windows are always one of the most exciting parts of the season. However, they can also be incredibly unpredictable. While some players quickly adapt and thrive in their new teams, others perform less successfully in a new team environment.
“The success of a player’s transfer ultimately depends on numerous factors. Despite being purchased for a considerable sum of money, some players may struggle to adapt in new teams due to injuries or other off-field challenges.
“The success of some Premier League transfers in comparison to others is a reminder of how important timing is during transfer windows.”
