DULWICH Hamlet have been drawn at home against Haringey Borough in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Hakan Hayrettin’s side joined the competition at this stage after the preliminary rounds.
There were 136 winners from those rounds with 88 new teams entering the competition. That makes 224 teams and 112 ties.
AFC Croydon Athletic reached this round for just the second time in their history after their 1-0 win at Horley Town last weekend.
The two sides had drawn 2-2 in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South four days earlier, but this time Michael Phillips’ goal was enough to edge a tense contest.
After Croydon had several chances to take the lead, Jack Marney’s cross was headed down by Dan Vaughan and Phillips controlled before firing in his first goal for the club.
Croydon, who are joint-owned by former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha and rapper Stormzy, will travel to Marlow in the next round.
Clubs that have made it this far in the competition have already earned £2,569 in prize-money and will bag a further £2,250 if they win in the next round.
Beckenham Town are also through after a 4-3 win at Ashford United.
Greenwich’s Cray Valley Paper Mills defeated Lordswood 4-1 at home in their replay on Tuesday evening following a 1-1 draw last weekend. They will travel to Uxbridge or Corinthian-Casuals next.
Stansfeld are out of the competition after a 2-0 defeat at south London rivals Erith & Belvedere. Finn O’Mara in the fourteenth minute and Chris Dickson’s penalty five minutes before half-time sent the hosts through.
Erith Town are also out after a 2-1 replay defeat at home to Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday after a 0-0 draw last weekend.
Crayford-based VCD Athletic lost 2-0 at home to Whitstable Town. Josh Oliver in the second minute and Liam Gillies seven minutes from time got the goals for the visitors.
The first qualifying round ties will take place the weekend of September 2.
